Job Feed Integration Portal

A React + Spring Boot + MySQL portal where independent external providers could be slow, rate-limited or temporarily unavailable without forcing the whole refresh cycle to behave the same way.

Outcome
−55% refresh latency
+33% engagement
near-real-time data updates
Mechanisms

01 / Integration path

Parallelize independence. Bound unreliability.

The fastest refresh path is not “retry everything harder”; it is separating independent work, capping recovery behavior and reducing write amplification.

02 / Design record

Latency fell by removing serialized waiting and chatty persistence.

The result came from several small system decisions working together.

01

Parallel provider fetch

Independent upstream calls execute concurrently instead of making total refresh time the sum of every provider latency.

Result: lower end-to-end refresh time.
02

Bounded recovery

Circuit breakers and retry/backoff keep transient faults recoverable without turning a failing provider into an unbounded wait.

Failure mode: retry amplification.
03

Batch persistence

Batch inserts and database-write optimization reduce per-item database overhead during refresh.

Result: less write amplification.
04

Cache the stable path

Caching protects response stability and reduces unnecessary recomputation while upstream data is unchanged.
